Acute Airway Obstruction
Posted by Dr. John Mathew on 13 Jun 2012 05:23:21 PM GMT

A good differential diagnosis to keep in mind, while dealing with acute airway obstruction. Yes, establishing an airway takes precedence and tracheotomy is justified. A cricothyrotomy may have been sufficient, and could have been done with a cricothyrotomy kit. (But expensive, compared to a reusable tracheotomy set!). Thank you for sharing the experience.
