    This is a very innovative and speculative paper outlining a possible significant top down dynamic mechanism in neocortex. The proposed process is the small scale magnetic field produced by columnar scale currents across the cortex. Such magnetic field is proposed to have sufficient magnitude to influence (top down) the momentum of Ca+ ions.
