This is good paper which reiterates the need of oral health services in rural areas

  • Other Comments:

In this study Medical officers at PHCs showed limited knowledge regarding dental problems. Hence CMEs or inservice training should concentrate on this issue

The fact that Oral health is neglected in rural areas and there is a need for at least one dentist in the PHCs to promote the oral health of the people is felt since long. But might realise once there is a policy on Oral Health in India

There is a need for  Reorientation of Medical education(ROME) wherein Interns  should get exposed to oral health conditions and their emergency management and referral

This would be a good presentation to a dental society.

  • Other Comments:

The authors used a cross sectional questionnaire survey. 45% of patients in this study presented with dental problems.  90% of the medical officers did not offer any dental treatment.  They concluded that the medical officers did not have knowledge or resources to provide dental services.
