What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?
Author claimed effect of feeding urea molasses bricks on bacterial (total and viable) and protozoan population in rumen, ruminal pH, total and individial fractions of fatty acids in rumen, total nitrogen, amonia nitrogen and free amino acids in rumen of buffalo calves. These parameters help to understand ruminal physiology and biochemistry in animals fed with urea-molasses.

Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.
No, Lots of work has already been done by several researchers on this topic. This topic has also been described as chapter in several books on ruminant nutrition.

Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?
Yes
-
Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?
Yes
-
If a protocol is provided, for example for a randomized controlled trial, are there any important deviations from it? If so, have the authors explained adequately why the deviations occurred?
No deviation, presented experimental protocol is randomized experimental trial wherein there is no deviation from it
-
Is the methodology valid? Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology that its experiments or its analyses could be reproduced?
Yes
-
Would any other experiments or additional information improve the paper? How much better would the paper be if this extra work was done, and how difficult would such work be to do, or to provide?
1. Effect of UMBS on digestibility of feed and fodder offered to calves during experimental period could have been studied.
2. Effect of UMBS supplementaion on quantity of feed and water intake by calves, growth and body weight of calves could also have been studied at weekly interval.

Is this paper outstanding in its discipline? (For example, would you like to see this work presented in a seminar at your hospital or university? Do you feel these results need to be incorporated in your next general lecture on the subject?) If yes, what makes it outstanding? If not, why not?
No

Other Comments:
1. title of research speaks that experiment has been conducted in buffaloes whereas, experiment was conducted on buffalo calves, hence title of paper must be revised accordingly.
2. Under the heading RESULTS line9 to 11 says “The mean total protozoal count at 0 h in rumen liquor was not significantly affected in the treatment group as compared to control. However, there was significant increase in total protozoal count in UMMB supplemented group compared to control group.”
in these lines atatement given is first half contradicts to the statement given in second half for making this statement clear second half must include the words “at 3 hours after UMBS supplementation total protozoan count in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group”
3.Under the heading RESULTS Table-2 has been written but table-2 is missing in article and illustrations
