What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?
To realize the possible variations possible in root morphology and how to properly obturate an S shaped canal.
-
Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.
Would not say this is a novel claim; however, it is an important concept to realize and take the necessary steps to achieve a successful outcome.
-
Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?
Yes
-
Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?
Yes they do support the claims.
-
If a protocol is provided, for example for a randomized controlled trial, are there any important deviations from it? If so, have the authors explained adequately why the deviations occurred?
Not applicable in this case report
-
Is the methodology valid? Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology that its experiments or its analyses could be reproduced?
Yes. The procedure explained can be reproduced.
-
Would any other experiments or additional information improve the paper? How much better would the paper be if this extra work was done, and how difficult would such work be to do, or to provide?
No. Since this is a case report it is accurate as the author has described.
-
Is this paper outstanding in its discipline? (For example, would you like to see this work presented in a seminar at your hospital or university? Do you feel these results need to be incorporated in your next general lecture on the subject?) If yes, what makes it outstanding? If not, why not?
It is an excellent case report and an important topic to keep in mind during endodontic cases.

What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?
To show the obturation technique for an unusual S shaped root canal
-
Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.
The claim is not novel, but it is very ilustrative to know thwe experience of other professionals with unusual cases.

What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?
Yes shape canals routinely not a rare finding in day to day endodontic practice but if occurs it is challenging to practitioners. Thourough knowledge regarding endodontic variation thus will ease the treatment
-
Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.
Though these findings are not rare but good knowledge regarding such endodontic variations and their successful treatment is necessary. such case reports refreshes the knowledge and boost practitioners to treat such treatment if they face in their practice

The authors present an interesting endodontic case in which an S-shaped root canal in a maxillary second premolar is treated.

Yes- this would be a great continuing education lecture for both endodontists and general dentists
Maxillary premolars are the teeth with the maximum anatomic variations. In this case the canal could be prepared in a crown-down technique. They also caution the reader that extreme variations in root fusion are difficult to ascertain with radiography.
