Brief Biography:

Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1959. Graduated as MSc in Medicine in the Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1985. Speciality in Human Physiology (1986-1989) and in Sports Physiology and Sports Medicine (1989-1992) in the Medical University of Plovdiv. PhD study in the University of Cape Town (1992), and training in University of Glasgow (1993), University College Dublin (1993), Trinity College Dublin (1997). Assistant Professor in Physiology in the Departmen of Physiology Medical University of Plovdiv (1986-1989), Senior Assistant Professor (1989-1992), Lecturer (1992-2001), Associate Professor (2001-), Visiting Professor in King's College London (2002-2003). Since 2004- Head of the Department of Physiology in the Medical University in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Fitness.
