He has profound experience in manipulating viral genomes, construction of recombinants, expression systems and in DNA sequencing technology. He developed novel transfer vectors for generation of BacMam virus for coronavirus under the supervision of Prof. G. M. Keil. Dr. Abdel-Moneim innovated new pathogenicity model of sheeppox and bovine parapoxviruses and delineated for the first time an immune-evasion strategy of sheep pox responsible for the appearance of the disease in vaccinated flocks. He isolated a novel native genotype of avian coronavirus. He has 105 published sequences for flaviviruses, coronaviruses and influenzaviruses.
