Dr. Xiaofen Deng Keating got her B.S, and M.Ed. in Physical Education Pedagogy and Athletic Training at Beijing Sport University (BSU) in the People's Republic of China. She then held a faculty position at BSU for seven years. After getting her Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Keating was a faculty at California State University at Los Angeles for seven years and is currently an associate professor in the department of curriculum and instruction at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Keating teaches advanced research design and statistics for graduate students in the dept. of Curriculum and Instruction and children’s movements in the dept. of Kinesiology and Health Education. Her research career has focused on measurement and assessment in physical education, fitness education including instruction and testing, the use of technology in promoting physical activity, and K-16 physical education program improvement in both China and the US for more than 20 years. She is a lifetime member of Chinese and American Scholar Association and The International Chinese Society for Physical Activity and Health. To date, she has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and conducted more than 50 presentations at both international and national conferences.
