Brief Biography:


Dr. Khun received the B.Eng degree in “Mechanical Engineering” from Mandalay Technological University (MTU), Myanmar (Burma), in 2002 and the M.Sc degree in “Mechanics & Processing of Materials” and the Ph.D degree in “Thin Films’ Physics and Electrochemistry”, both from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. He has had post-doct-experience in the area of “Polymer Tribology” from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (SMAE), NTU. He is currently working as a post-doct-fellow in the area of “Surface Treatment and Modification Technology for Improvement of Corrosion Resistance and Adhesive Strength of Coated Systems” at the Fontana Corrosion Center (FCC), The Ohio State University (OSU), USA. He had industrial experiences in the area of “Mechanical and Piping Engineering” from reputable companies based in Myanmar and Singapore for several years. He is a recipient of several awards for his outstanding academic performance such as three “Third" prizes for the B.Eng degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MTU (2000-2002), “Excellent Performance” award for the M.Sc degree from the SMAE, NTU (2006), “NTU Research Scholarship” (2007-2010) and “Outstanding Student” award (for a program selected by NTU and Tohoku University, Japan, 2009) for the Ph.D degree from the SMAE, NTU and “Post-doct-fellowship” award from the FCC, OSU (2011). He has been a professional member of several renowned societies such as American Chemical Society (2011), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (2011-present), American Vacuum Society (2011-present), The Electrochemical Society (2011), The International Society of Electrochemistry (2011), National Association of Corrosion Engineers International (2011), The Institute of Corrosion (2011-present), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (2011-present), The Institute of Physics (2011-present), Royal Society of Chemistry (2011-present) and Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (2011-present). His research interests include thin films and coatings, nanomaterials, electrochemistry, corrosion, nanotribology, nanomechanics, surface and interface, polymer, surface treatment and modification technology and sensors.
