Biography:


Dr Al-Dujaili has taken various posts in Academia and Industry in the UK and abroad. Duties included teaching, training, research, management and administration. At national and international conferences, he presented numerous research papers regarding the effect of certain food constituents and exercise on androgens and glucocorticoids levels in men and women. He published many papers in the field of immunoassay developments, production of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis, hypertension, adrenal pathophysiology and control of adrenal steroidogenesis. Major interest on the effect of Diet and food (macro and micro-nutrients) and exercise on body composition, CVD risk factors and the production and secretion of steroid hormones. He also has ongoing collaborative research projects in the fields of molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biopsychology with Edinburgh University, Centres for cardiovascular and Reproductive Biology Units and Aberdeen University. His research interests are: Measurement of steroid hormones in Saliva for clinical and bio-behavioral studies, Assessing stress response (salivary Cortisol measurement), Plant polyphenols and Antioxidants effects in the prevention of contemporary disease such as CVD, obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Research interests:


  1. Effect of Functional foods (dark chocolate, pomegranate juice, liquorice and green coffee) on body composition, hormonal control and metabolic parameters in healthy volunteers.
  2. Effect of macro and micro-nutrients and exercise on the production and secretion of steroid hormones.
  3. Measurement of steroid hormones in Saliva for clinical and bio-behavioral studies, Assessing stress response (salivary Cortisol measurement).

      4.  Optimization and validation of ELISA and HPLC techniques to identify and measure steroid hormones in different biological fluids.
