Prof. Ashraf Shehata

Brief Biography:


Ashraf Aly Shehata serves as a Professor of organic chemistry at the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Organic Division, El-Minia University, El-Minia, Egypt. He was awarded with a channel system program to complete his Ph.D. program under the supervision of Professor Dr. Henning Hopf, in the field of cyclophane chemistry for two years at TU-Brauschweig, Germany and was awarded with a scientific grant to be a scientific visitor to TU-Braunschweig, Germany from 28 November 1997 until 31 January 1999. He published about 82 papers in sound international journals. He was appointed as a Visiting Professor in Sultan of Oman. Besides he was awarded with The State’s Encouragement National Prize in Organic Chemistry (2004) from the Academy of Science and Technology, Cairo, Egypt and with DAAD scholarship for two months from 12 August 2005 until 12 October 2005 with Professor Dr. Henning Hopf. He has been selected on the Boards of Referees in the following journals: Journal of Organic Chemistry, Journals of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Arkivoc. He was acknowledged by Shoman foundation for his research program and his list of publications. He has a joint research with Professor Dr. Alan B. Brown, Japan. The research group of Professor Aly is working for a long time on the chemistry of paracyclophane, and he is interested in study of synthetic approaches to new cyclophanes containing heterocyclic rings. Moreover, his research activity deals with synthesis of heterocycles which may have prospective biological and/or pharmaceutical activities. From 2008 till now, he has been invited as a Visitor Professor in Saudi Arabia, Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Jouf University.For five years (from 2008 till June 2013), he was invited as a Visitor Professor in KSA, Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Al Jouf University. He has published nearly 100 publications in different sound international journals.

Awards

1. Awarded a channel system program to complete my PhD program under the supervision of  Prof Dr Henning Hopf, in the field of cyclophane chemistry, in the period of 25-10-1991 until  31-10-1993, Brauschweig University, Institute of Organic Chemistry, Germany.
2. Awarded a scientific grant to be a scientific visitor to Braunschweig, Germany, Prof Dr H. Hopf to do research during the period from 28-11-1997 until 31-1-1999.
3. Awarded by the university as a visitor Prof and teach organic courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) in Sultan of Oman.  
4. Awarded from the Academy of Science and Technology, Cairo, Egypt “The State’s Encouragement National Prize in Organic Chemistry (2004)”. This prize has been given to the best organic researcher scientist in this year. `
5. Awarded DAAD scholarship for two months from 12 August 2005 till 12 October 2005 with Prof Dr Henning Hopf.
