Brief Biography:


Shama Ahmad was born in Lucknow India. She received the Master in Biochemistry degree (summa cum laude) from University of Lucknow, India in 1988. She received the Master in Philosophy and Ph.D in Biotechnology from University of Aligarh, India. She was a Junior Research Fellow and a Senior Research Fellow of the University Grants Commission India. She served as a Research associate in the Department of Biochemistry, JN Medical College, Aligarh India and then as a lecturer in the department of Biochemistry, Aligarh university India. In 1998 she joined National Jewish Health Denver Colorado, USA as a Research Associate and there she was bestowed with Robert J Suslow fellowship. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. She is a cell and molecular biologist and her research involves investigating human airway epithelial responses to oxidants and their modulations in diseased individuals that contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic airway diseases. She was awarded a K12 fellowship at CCTSI UCHSC Colorado that is funded by NCRR, NIH. Besides the above she serves in various scientific committees and regularly contributes editorial summaries on current research in her field in Science Translational Medicine a leading science journal. She is an Associate Scientific Advisor of Science Translational Medicine.
