Brief Biography:

My school education was in Nepal. My undergraduate degree is from the United States (Luther College) and I have double Masters and PhD degrees from Universities in Australia (University of Wollogong/ University of Western Sydney). My primary area of education was biotechnology- focussing on immunology and molecular biology. I have published nationally and internationally. My work background started as lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences in Kathmandu University, Nepal. After 5 years of tenure, I left full academics to start a biomedical research institute in Nepal in 2007. Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal is the organizations I have helped intiate and I am currently the founding Country Director of this organization.

Academic positions:

Lecturer. School of Biological Sciences. Kathmandu University. 2004-2005

Assistant Professor. Department of Biotechnology. Kathmandu University. 2006-2008.

Visiting faculty. BS/MD program. GEMS College Nepal. Affiliated of Angelest University the Phillipines. 2008-present.

Research interests:

I am interested in biomedical research in public health domain, especially communicable diseases plaguing developing countries. I want to learn more about the pathogens that cause these diseases using tools of biotechnology.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

It is great, especially for us scientists living in developing countries where resources are scarce and funding for even publishing research work nonexistent. We cannot afford to subscribe to ScienceDirect or similar. Thus open access is something that not only helps developing country scientists but also helps those in developed countries to understand what is going on in worlds beyond their domain.
