Research interests:

My field of research is bio-nanotechnology specializing in the sensing and characterization of biological entities and interactions, which have an immediate and far reaching impact in life sciences. In recent years, much research has been aimed at single-molecule manipulation with the potential of characterizing biological processes at the molecular level. Fabrication of devices investigating bacteria, viruses, proteins and even at such smaller sizes as of DNA can create a large arsenal of highly specific and ultrasensitive biosensors and systems. My expertise lies in the fabrication of novel nanostructures using femtosecond laser, as well as exploration and characterization of mechanical, electrical, and optical properties of biosensors nanocomposites. My greatest interest in academic research is to design and develop novel electrochemical DNA biosensors. These biosensors, based on nanoscale structures and surfaces, will address important life science problems of diagnostics and therapeutics by rapid detection of genetic mutations, disease markers and proteins.
