Brief Biography:

1999-2003: PhD in Biology, programme of Neuroscience,University of Vigo,Spain. Qualification Summa cum laude. Supervisor: Dr. Federico Mallo Ferrer.

2003-2004: Postdoctoral fellowship at Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology, Institute of Neurobiology Ramón y Cajal, CSIC,Madrid,Spain. Supervisor: Dr. Ignacio Torres Aleman.

2005-2006: Postdoctoral fellowship at Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute,Stockholm,Sweden. Supervisor: Dr. Carlos F. Ibañez.

2007-2009: Postdoctoral fellowship CIBERNED at Laboratory of Neurodegenerative diseases, Research Centre,UniversityHospital“12 de Octubre”,Madrid,Spain. Supervisor: Dra. Eva Carro.

Current position: 2009 to date Senior Researcher Parga Pondal programme. Laboratory of Neuroscience, Service of Pathology and Neuropathology,UniversityHospital ofVigo.

I participated in several research projects: I have been granted during 3 years as principal investigator in 1 competitive research project application titled “Molecular bases of Lafora disease. Study in the central nervous system” (2009-2012) financed by Xunta de Galicia. Also, I have been a co-applicant in other 15 competitive research projects applications during my career.

I published 21 original articles in peer reviewed journals written in English and also 2 chapters in a book titled “Endocrinologia”. My work has been cited 127 times. My most relevant publications were obtained during my postdoctoral stages, as a result of many years working on different aspects and proteins of neurodegenerative diseases are the 7 papers and several patents only the last year. During my last postdoctoral stages I got 4 patents in the Cajal Institutte and in the Hospital “12 de Octubre” with application number: WO2006015996, US2008038227, WO2010010223 and WO2010089442. All of them are worked out for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Further I belong to Editorial advisory board and I am referee in: “Recent Patents on Endocrine Metabolic & Immune Drug Discovery”, “Journal of Diabetes and Endocrinology” and “Committee Sigma-Aldrich Global Advisor”. I am Grant Evaluation Referee for Grant Agency Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic on Junior Programme projects of the Grant Agency where only junior scientists (below 35 years of age). Finally I was invited Lectures in several meetings in Kristineberg (Sweden), at Centre of Excellence in Developmental Biology, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, and at ENDOCYTE network meeting, Varenna, Italy.
