Brief Biography:


I was born in Concepcion, Chile, February 10, 1961. I entered to study biochemistry at the University of Concepción, getting my degree in this discipline in 1985 and the professional title in 1988. In 1995 I received the degree of Doctor of Science (PhD.) in Biology and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Chile. In 1995 I did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Bordeaux in the area of ??molecular biology of T. cruzi. Later in 1998, I entered to the University of Chile, of which I am currently an assistant professor.

Assistant professor in the Program of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBM), Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile

 

Research interests:


Population genetics and evolution of pathogens

Study of replication and repair machinery of pathogens.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


I think the political of the Post Publication Peer Review of WebmedCentral, is a very interesting and innovative idea, because the scientific manuscripts are evaluated by a extensive range of experts and general readers with interest in the field of paper. Thus, by expanding the spectrum of reviewers the biases of misconceptions, conflicts of interest and poor expertise of the reviewers are minimized. In addition, the new system of this magazine, makes the review process more transparent and much faster.
