Dr. Marie Bourgeois

Research Assistant Professor
University Of South Florida College of Public Health
13201 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., MDC 56

Brief Biography:

I received my Doctorate in Toxicology and Risk Assessment Doctoral from the Environmental and Occupational Health Department at the University Of South Florida College Of Public Health.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Chemistry from USF and an MPH in Toxicology and Risk Assessment from the USF COPH. My research has examined the effects of cocaine and other illicit substance use on the urinary expression of biomarkers of inflammation, renal failure, oxidative stress, and cardiac dysfunction. I have also investigated the gender dimorphism in the urinary expression of these markers in response to cocaine use. Current research interests include charachterization of pcpp concentrations in wastewater streams and pharmacological modulation of drug induced hepatotoxicity using a murine model.
