Dr. Muzafar Macha

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Biochem. and Mol Bio. University Nebraska Medical Center

Brief Biography:

During my five year pre-doctoral training, I worked on the anticancer activities of natural products in head and neck cancer. I also worked on the identification and characterization of biomarkers as surrogate end points in clinical trials using natural products for advanced Head and Neck cancers. I joined University of Nebraska Medical center as a post-doctoral fellow in January 2011 and since then, I am being extensively involved in identifying the novel mechanisms and signalling alterations associated with deregulation of mucins particularly MUC4 in various epithelial malignancies including oral, pancreatic and prostate cancers. I addition, my work is focused on the utility of MUC4 as a therapeutic target in pancreatic cancer using natural products. During my research training, I have gained extensive knowledge and expertise in translational research, mucin biology and epithelial cell manipulation.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

WebmedCentral is a unique post publication peer review based publishing platform that publishes biomedical scientific content without any pre-publication peer review. This is a unique plateform for all scientist to know other scientist involved in the same research. Furthermore, before publishing their rsults in the peer review journals, all the scientists publishing in Webmed Centrals can incorporate their comments in the manuscript and to improvove its quality to lessen the chances of their rejection.
