Dr. Nasr-eldin Aref

Brief Biography:


Dr. Aref graduated from faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University-Egypt in 1994. He obtained his master degree in Internal Veterinary Medicine from the same faculty in 1998 with special emphasis on neonatal calf diarrhea, acid base balance and rehydration therapy. His Ph.D. in Large Animal Clinical Sciences from College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University, US in 2008 focused on construction of highly immunogenic heat-stable enterotoxin (STa) of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) strains. The outcome of his Ph.D. work has been filed for a patent in USA. He has several articles published in International and local journals. He is a reviewer in several international journals: Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Toxins, Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, African Journal of Microbiology Research and Journal of Microbiology and Immunology. He serves on the Editorial board of Journal of Vaccines and Vaccination, OMICS group incorporation, USA. Dr. Aref's scholarly work is geared towards enterotoxin-mediated diarrheal diseases and development of ST-based ETEC vaccine using nanotechnology technique. Dr. Aref is currently holding a position of associate professor of Animal Medicine at Assiut University-Egypt.

2013-present: Associate Profesor of Internal Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut-Egypt.

2008-2013: Lecturer of Internal Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut-Egypt.

2003-2008: Research Assistant/PhD Candidate on STa – Antibodies/Vaccine Project, National Food Safety Toxicology Center, CVM, MSU, USA.

1998-2002: Assistant Lecturer of Internal Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut-Egypt.

1995-1998: Demonstrator of Internal Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut-Egypt.

 

Research interests:


Enterotoxin- Mediated Diarrheal Diseases and Diarrheal Mechanisms, Clinical Immunology, ETEC Vaccine, Protein Purification and Characterization, Acid-Base Balance and Rehydration Therapy.
