Associate Professor
Biotechnology, Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering)

Brief Biography:

Dr. Pravir Kumar is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering). Prior to joining, he served as an Associate Professor (Bio-Sciences) and Assistant Director (Center for Medical Engineering) at VIT University, Vellore. He obtained his MS degree from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi followed by diploma thesis in the department of Molecular Cell biology under the guidance of Dr. Lutz Nover and then PhD degree in Cytochrome P450 gene regulation in coronary artery under Late Prof. Rudi Busse and Prof. Dr. Ingrid Fleming in the Cardiovascular physiology, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Before returning to India, he spent several years in the Neurology department, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts, USA as a postdoctoral fellow and later faculty position in Dr. Henry W Querfurth’s group. Still, he is holding adjunct faculty status in the Neurology Department at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). His areas of interest and expertise include molecular chaperone and ubiquitin E3 ligase in neurodegenerative disorders along with the aberrant cell cycle re-entries into aged neurons and muscles. He has published 17 papers in peer-reviewed journals (h-index-7; cumulative impact factors: 65; citation index is 532) and three book chapters in Nova publisher, New York. Further, he has presented more than 40 papers in international symposium and proceedings. Until now, he has guided 3 PhD students,10 M.Tech. and more than 50 students at MS levels. He has successfully completed Life Science Research Board –Defence Research and Development Organization (LSRB-DRDO) funded research project in India. He is the life and regular member of various professional societies across the globe. His group is actively collaborated with several well known USA and European Universities.
