Brief Biography:

The goal of the proposed research is to investigate the the pathogenesis and interspecies transmission of influenza A viruses in animals with special focus on turkey and swine species. We are trying to address several issues of central importance to the success of influenza A viruses crossing species barriers. Those include; studying prevalence of influenza viruses in animal hosts, how viral genome vary in structure over the virus transmission to different hosts, the mechanisms of binding to different receptors, how differences in viral structural proteins can control their host ranges, and the role of different host factors in determining the outcome of infection. Addressing these issues are essential steps to reveal new ways to make more effective vaccines or therapeutics. These research areas provided me with a broad background in the pathogenesis and immunity of different virus in poultry. The work experiences included molecular diagnosis such as PCR, sequencing and sequence analysis, and immunology including; ELISA, IFA, immunohistochemistry and virus histochemistry. Also I have experience in molecular virology techniques such as gene cloning and reverse genetics. In summary, I have a demonstrated record of accomplished and productive research in the area of viral pathogenesis and immunology.
