  • What are the main claims of the paper and how important are they?

The paper identifies important areas of health improvement which can be included into the NHS community services. South Asian migrants with non communicable diseases are of a large population in the UK and there are many social and cultural barriers which can be erradicated if this paper were to be implemented.

  • Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.

Yes the claims made in the paper are novel. Further research can be reccomended in this area with a stronger research design and larger sample size

  • Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?

Yes the claims made in the paper are in context of the previous literature.

  • Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?

Yes the results support the claims, but it the relationship could be stronger by including a larger sample in future studies.

  • If a protocol is provided, for example for a randomized controlled trial, are there any important deviations from it? If so, have the authors explained adequately why the deviations occurred?

The limitations of the study design have been highlighted, those limitations are expected ones in the nutrition studies. Steps have been taken by the author to minimize the bias.

  • Is the methodology valid? Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology that its experiments or its analyses could be reproduced?

Yes the methodology is valid is systematic following the protocols set by scientific and ethical committees the author has reported to.

  • Would any other experiments or additional information improve the paper? How much better would the paper be if this extra work was done, and how difficult would such work be to do, or to provide?

The study can be done on a larger sample with both genders and including a seperate cohort with family education to assess which impact is the most effective and resourceful.

  • Is this paper outstanding in its discipline? (For example, would you like to see this work presented in a seminar at your hospital or university? Do you feel these results need to be incorporated in your next general lecture on the subject?) If yes, what makes it outstanding? If not, why not?

I feel the paper is outstanding and the use of faith spaces has been well underlined in this paper. We could implement this in practice.

  • Other Comments:

Paper could be published in the Nutrition section rather than the biological section to improve reachability to the right audience.

Important claims on the paper are : wide differences in health beliefs and it differ across cultural groups. Dietary habbits among this hard to reach group does suggest  discrepancy which is driven by cultural norms which may be playing a greater role in health care facilities that are avilable and being provided by the health care professionals due to lack of culturally tailored health advice.

  • Are these claims novel? If not, please specify papers that weaken the claims to the originality of this one.

The aforesaid claims by the author do give clear insight into where the problems are and does give some suggestions based on the literature review and field data collection and definately add data points towards further research into inter-genrational differences among this particular community group.

  • Are the claims properly placed in the context of the previous literature?

Yes all the claims are place within the scope of previous literature.

  • Do the results support the claims? If not, what other evidence is required?

Yes the results support the claims but some tables with results would have been better to visualise the claims.

There are no important deviations from the main protocol or the method described.

The author used validated method for analysis and it can be replicated for other hard to reach population. Such as, Pubjabi, Gujarai or even Sikh.

    NA
