Dr. Babasola Okusanya

Brief Biography:

Dr Babasola Okusanya is a Faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He had his primary school education in 1983 at Ikosi primary School,Ketu, Lagos, Nigeria. He thereafter had his secondary school education at Ikosi High School, ketu, Lagos. He was awarded the General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1988.

Dr Okusanya's medical education was at the University of Benin College of Medicine between 1991 and 1998. He was awarded Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1998.

He later had his postgraduate specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital,Edo State, Nigeria between 2002 and 2007. In 2007, he was awarded the Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and Fellowship Medical College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FMCOG) Nigeria.

In 2009, he was awarded a Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research by the World Health Organization (WHO) Geneva. He also had a Diploma in Minimal Access surgery from the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS), UK.

He has attended national and international conferences at which he presented scientific papers. He also has several published articles in local, national and international peer-reviewed journals.

He is a member of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria (SOGON), Geneva Foundation for medical Education and Reasearch (GFMER) and World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS), UK.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

The  idea behind WebmedCentral is novel and great.

Many authors of scientific manuscripts go through difficulties and several months of delay to have their work published. Often times, after waiting for months, journal's Editor writes that they have had many manuscripts submitted which made the Editorial Board unable to review the manuscript.

The post-publication peer review process of WebmedCentral will definitely be welcome by many authors in the scientific community.
