Dr. Nikolaos Kakouros

Neuroscience BSc(Hons), MBBS(Hons), MRCP(UK), PhD(Hons)
Nikolaos Kakouros studied Neuroscience at University of London and then Medicine at the Imperial College School of Medicine. After completing general medical training in London, he was appointed as a specialist trainee in Cardiology in the South London programme. In 2010, he was awarded a PhD by the University of Athens for his research on right ventricular infarction.  After training in Interventional cardiology at St George's hospital, London he moved to the USA to pursue his research interest in endothelial thromboregulation and platelet function at Johns Hopkins University.

He was subsequently appointed as assistant Professor at the University of Massachusets and is the director of structural heart interventions at the UMass Memorial Medical Center.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

The current paradigm in most publication pathways of non-anonymous manuscript subscription likely introduces bias in published literature. 

The WMC approach makes the process transparent and subject to post-hoc publication review that may be non-inferior to pre-publication review and certainly faster and more efficient.
