Dr. Talal Abdulkareem

Brief Biography:


Dr. Talal Anwer Abdulkareem, 47 years old, Assistant Professor in Livestock Reproductive Physiology and Artificial Insemination. I am as a staff member in the Department of Animal Resources, College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad since 1996. I have published more than 26 research papers in iternational and local journals. I have been within comprehensive exam and thesis dicussion committees of PhD and master students.

Since 2007, I have working in cooperation with Professor Garth Sasser (BioTracking, LLC, Moscow, Idaho, USA) for discovered a new method for early pregnancy detection in buffalo and to develop the method of early pregnancy, embryonic mortality and dystocia in Holstein cows using ELISA technique.

 

Academic positions:


1. Currently, Assistant Professor, Department of  Animal Resources, University of Baghdad, (September, 2008 to present).

2. Lecturer, Department of Animal Resources, University of Baghdad, (September, 2001 to September 2008). 

3. Assistant lecturer, Department of Animal Resources, University of Baghdad, (September, 1996 to October 2001).

4. Scientific Researcher in IPA Agricultural Research Center, Laboratory of Animal Physiology and Goat Breeding Station (GBS) (July, 1995 to September, 1996).

 

Research interests:


1. Early detection of pregnancy and embryonic mortality in cattle and buffalo using pregnancy-specific protein B (PSPB) and Ultrasonography.
2. Purification and characterization of placental protein and production of kits used for pregnancy detection of water buffalo.
3. Improvement of semen quality and quantity using hormonal and nutritional methods in bulls, rams and goats.
4. Factors influenced spermatogenesis, puberty and testicular development in Bulls, ram and bucks.
5. Semen cryopreservation using large molecules and different egg-yolk types from different types of birds.

During 2010. I have participated in Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program in as a cohort of Public Health, George Mason University, USA.

I have reviewed many manuscripts in the journal of Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Animal Reproduction Science and Small Ruminant Research

During the past 12 years, I worked as a consultant in many private and research stations of sheep and goat as consultant for improve the reproductive and reproductive performance. My work in these stations was concentrate on the improvement of twinning and fertility rates as well as semen quality.

During the last 3 years I have extensively working in the field of Iraqi buffalo reproductive physiology, throughout the use of some placental proteins in the early pregnancy and embryonic mortality diagnosis.

I have attended many conferences and symposia related livestock reproductive physiology as well as those related to improve extension of Iraqi produccers
