PUNDIR, CHANDRA SHEKHAR, Biochemistry and Biotechnology educator, Dept. of Biochemistry & Former Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, M.D. University, Rohtak (Haryana). Born on Nov 15, 1954 in Distt. Muzaffar Nagar, U.P; BSc. (Hons.) Chemistry, CCS Univ. Meerut 1973; M.Sc. & Ph.D in Biochemistry, G.B. Pant U. Agr. and Tech., Pantnagar, India, 1975 & 1980. Rsch. Assoc. ICMR; Postgrad. Rsch. ICMR, Chandigarh, 1981, 1983-84; Lect. in Biophysics Punjab U., Chandigarh, 1982-83; Lect. in BioSci. Council, M.D.U.  Achievements include entry into Limca Book of Record for guiding 107 (now 170) M.Sc. dissertations in biochemical and Biotechnology during 1997-2007; 20 Ph.D theses; referees in National and International Jours; Organized 10 day DST workshop on Biosensor in 2007 and India-Japan seminar on Oct 30, 2010 and Subject expert for teaching posts in Indian Univ. Attended 60 National & International conferences, seminars and presented > 100 research papers. Major Res Contri.: Detection, purification, characterization, immobilization and analytic use of a chloride insensitive Oxalate oxidase from sorghum leaf; Invention of covalent immobilization of enzymes on PVC sheet and egg shell membrane; Economization of enzymic colorimetric methods for determination of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid, urea, bile acids, oxalate and lactic acid by using glass bead bound enzymes; Development of enzyme sensors for lactose, galactose, ascorbic acid, oxalic acid, lactic acid, uric acid, cholesterol, triglycerides, polyphenol, glycosylated haemoglobin, xanthine, creatinine, tyramine, sulfite and organophosphorous pesticide.
