Brief Biography:
Dr. Dimitar Sajkov received his M.D., M.M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees from the University of Skopje, Macedonia and his Ph.D. from the Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. Dr Sajkov moved to Australia in 1989 as a recipient of the Australian-European Award Program Fellowship. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and Flinders University from 1989-1998, working on clinical research trials of pulmonary hypertension and sleep apnea. Dr Sajkov is a recipient of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and Australian Lung Foundation (ALF) prize for physiological research and best presentation in sleep and physiology in 2002. He was appointed a Senior Consultant at the Flinders University Medical Centre in 2002 and lectures at the Flinders University. His major area of research is related to pulmonary hypertension, influenza vaccines and adjuvants, COPD and sleep apnea. He is an author 30 peer reviewed papers and over 70 published abstracts. Dr Sajkov is a reviewer for number of major medical journals, such as the European Heart Journal, Thorax and Respirology. He is the founder and CEO of the Australian Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Institute, Director or Southern Sleep Service and the International Regent for Australia to the Amerian College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). Dr Sajkov is an accredited Senior Consultant in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in Four University Teaching Hospitals and Four Private Hospitals in South Australia and Australian Northern Territory.
