Brief Biography:


Joseph F. Majdan, MD completed his doctor of medicine degree at the Universtiy of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He did an his residency in Internal Medicine at the Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has been an attending physician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the Department of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College. He has served at Director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship Program from 1985 to 1995.He is currently Director of Professional Development at the University Clinical Skills and Simulation Center of Jefferson Medical College. He has presented numerous workshops and abstracts at national conferences in the field of remediation of medical students and residents. He also is an expert in the field of physical diagnosis and has presented nationally and internationally on this topic. He has been the recopient of numerous teaching awards including the Class of 1986 CLass Portrait of Jefferson Medical College, the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching from Jefferson Medical College, the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching of Jefferson Medical College, the American Heart Association Award for teacher of the Year, the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, and numverous Medical Resident Teaching Awards from Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Majdan has published numerous papers and abstracts relation to the field of medical education, remediation, physical diagnosis, and empathy in medicine.
