Brief Biography:


Dr. Atluri received Ph.D. from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh, India and completed his postdoctoral research and working as a faculty at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA. Dr. Atluri’s research work is focused on neuropathogeneic mechanisms of HIV infection and drugs of abuse; and epigenetic regulation of synaptic plasticity genes expression and spine density in HIV infected neuronal cells. For the first time, Dr. Atluri’s group has reported the dysregulation of synaptic plasticity genes and spine density in HIV infected neuronal cells and reported the usefulness of vorinostat as a therapeutic agent to inhibit the negative regulatory effects on synaptic plasticity in HIV infection. He has been serving as an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, Guest Associate Editor of Frontiers in Microbiology (Section Virology) and reviewer of many peer-reviewed scientific journals like Scientific Reports, International Journal of Nanomedicine, AIDS and Behavior, PLOS ONE, Journal of Medical Microbiology, Journal of the International AIDS Society, Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment, International Journal of STD & AIDS, Frontiers in Psychiatry (Section Neuropharmacology) etc.
