Dr. Vijay Kumar Chattu

Brief Biography:


Dr. Vijay Kumar Chattu is a registered medical doctor (India and Trinidad & Tobago) and global health specialist with an MBBS and MD in Community Medicine from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur University. Later did his MPH in International Health Development from Belgium, MPhil from Stellenbosch University and currently doing a PhD in International Relations. He has acquired vast international experience in program management, research and in academics while working in India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and the Caribbean region. As Technical Specialist at National level with FHI 360 and regional level with UNAIDS-TSF (Asia & Africa) and as State Epidemiologist with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India he has contributed significantly for the HIV/AIDS programs. He is currently working at The University of the West Indies as a faculty in Public Health and Primary Care teaching the MBBS & MPH graduate students and also associated with EUCLID University as Research Professor in International Public Health. In the recent past, he held visiting scholar appointments at University of Washington and UCLA and was also a visiting faculty at Nova University of Lisbon, UAE University and Paracelsus Medical University, Austria. He has received prestigious Fellowships from Harvard Medical School to pursue Post Master’s certificate in Global Mental Health, NIH- Fogarty Fellowship in Epidemiology, WHO-IARC Fellowship in Cancer Epidemiology and Salzburg Global Fellow, Austria. He is also the Coordinator for Caribbean states for the World NCD Federation, Country representative - Trinidad and Tobago for Healthcare Information for All and Globethics.net, Geneva. He has authored 2 monographs on Global Health, MDGs and Infant Mortality and over 45 research articles published in international peer reviewed journals. Has a great passion for global health development and especially the interdisciplinary research which he collaborates globally
