Research interests:

I am interested in phisico-chemical phenomena between metallic materials and environmental organism. Biofilm, biofouling etc. The problem should be investigated from the viewpoint of materials science and engineering, so that they the phenomenon can be utilized for industrial purposes. My affiliate academic societies are mentioned below:

Institute of Metal Finishing(IMF)
National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF)
The Minerals, Metals And Materials Society (TMS)
ASM International
The American Society for Engineering Education(ASEE)
The American Chemical Society (ACS)
Japan Institute of Metals(JIM)
The Iron And Steel Institute of Japan(ISIJ)
Japanese Society for Engineering Education (JSEE)
Surface Finishing Society of Japan(SFSJ)
Japan Society of Heat Treatment(JSHT)
Japan Industrial Archeology Society (JIAS)
The Molten Salt Committee, The Electrochemical Society of Japan
The Japan Institute of Marine Engineering

Any other information:

Dr. Hideyuki Kanematsu, FIMF (a Fellow of IMF) is a full professor and the dean in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, at Suzuka National College of Technology, Suzuka, Mie, Japan. There, he is also a researcher in Environment Materials Engineering. He is interested particularly in the interfacial phenomena between the metallic surface and organism from the environmental science. He holds a B.Eng. (1981), a M.Eng(1983) and a Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering (1989) all from Nagoya University. He is a member of the Institute of Metal Finishing, UK(IMF) as well as the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, USA(TMS), American Chemical Society (ACS), the Japan Institute of Metals (JIM) and the Iron & Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ) etc.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

As I mentioned above, I am interested in the phisico-chemical interfacial phnemona between metallic materials and environmental organisms. The topics include biomaterials. The WebmedCentral is closely connected with the field.  While I am serving to the editorial board, I will get lots of information about the field and I believe the experience can be applied to my own field and works.
