Dr. Diego Liberati

Biography:

Diego Liberati, born in Milano, Master in Electronic Engineering summa cum laude from Politecnico di Milano, PhD Biomedical Engineering.
Evaluator for international (like Belgium Scientific Research Council) and national (like University of Padova) scientific institutions.
Member of the editorial board of a few scientific journals, reviewer for a number of others.
Dr Liberati has been the Italian candidate to the Vice Presidency of European Patent Office, expert for technology transfer with Milano Chamber of Commerce and offered to care for biomimetic projects at European Science Foundations.
Leader of projects in cooperation with industry, like Helwett Packard for production line inspection via artificial neural networks, and academia, like the European Union Innovation for Welfare ROBO MD project for home monitoring and helping elderly alone.
President for the Milano region for two international Non Governmental Organisations, one for social service, the other for cultural service.
Organizer of and speaker at several Conferences, author of a number of quite cited papers
Mentor of dozens of doctoral students and post-docs, he has been teaching at Politecnico di Milano, Universita' di Milano, Universita' di Perugia, Universita' di Patrasso, Politecnico di Torino.

Academic positions:

CNR researcher since 1984 (research director since 1999). He has served as deputy director for Genova department of CNR IEIIT Institute, as well as member elected of the Institute Commettee, and component of the support group designing the CNR Departments (nominated for Medicine, then involved in ICT).  

Associate to Italian National Nuclear Physics Institute, he has been leading Virtual Biophysic Lab at Milano Bicocca University.

He has been visiting scientist at Rokefeller University (USA National Institute of Health grant), New York University (NATO grant), University of California at Berkeley (NATO senior grants) and International Computer Science Institute

Mentor of dozens of doctoral students and post-docs, he has been teaching at Politecnico di Milano, Universita' di Milano, Universita' di Perugia, Universita' di Patrasso, Politecnico di Torino

Research interests:

Presently mainly involved in systems biology, bio-mimetic computing, bio-inspired wireless control, elderly care and youth education.
