The Diphtheria incidence is higher in District of Bhavnagar and has constituted about 25% of total cases seen in the State of Gujarat, India. Number of cases admitted in pediatrics dept. of the institute are as

2005- 68 ; 2006- 56 ; 2007- 62 ; 2008- 59 ; 2009- 75 ; 2010- 56 ; 2011- 34 ; 2012- 19 ; 2013- 12

As can be seen a declining trend is noted from 2009 to 2013 which reflects the ongoing improvement in the vaccination education program of the community carried out by the district health dept.
