The Diphtheria incidence is higher in District of Bhavnagar and has constituted about 25% of total cases seen in the State of Gujarat, India. Number of cases admitted in pediatrics dept. of the institute are as
2005- 68 ; 2006- 56 ; 2007- 62 ; 2008- 59 ; 2009- 75 ; 2010- 56 ; 2011- 34.
As can be seen adeclining trend is noted from 2009 to 2011 which is a good thing and reflects the ongoing improvement in the vaccination education program of the community carried out by the district health dept.
